What is a private video library?

A private video library is a personal, access-controlled collection of saved videos in which each video keeps its own metadata (title, preview, tags, and cast), organized so you can search and filter it, and kept separate from your browser and your public accounts. In short, it is your own indexed catalog of videos that only you can see.

What makes it private?

Three things. First, access control: the library belongs to one person and no one else can read it. PornLibrary enforces this with Supabase row-level security, so each account is fully isolated at the database level. Second, separation: it does not live in your browser's shared bookmark bar or inside an account you use for work and everyday life, so it is not visible to anyone who opens your browser. Third, a private library is not a public profile or a shared list, so there is no social feed and nothing is exposed by default.

What makes it a library, and not just a list?

A list is a pile of links. A library adds structure: each item carries its own details and a place to belong. In practice that means automatic extraction that turns a pasted link into a full entry with a preview and cast, plus collections and tags and search so you can actually find things later. That metadata is the difference between a stack of URLs and a catalog you can navigate.

How is it different from bookmarks?

Bookmarks save a bare URL with a title and a favicon. They do not fetch a preview, they do not know who is in a video, they cannot be filtered by performer or tag, and they sit in the browser next to everything else you save. A private video library fills in the details for you, lets you filter and search, and keeps the whole collection separate and access-controlled. See the side-by-side in the bookmarks alternative rundown.

Do you need one?

Not everyone does. If you save a few videos a month and rarely return to them, bookmarks or a notes app will do. A private video library becomes worth it when the collection grows past what you can scan by eye, when you want to browse by performer or category, and when you would rather the collection not live in your browser or a shared account. PornLibrary is free up to 200 videos, and Premium at 5 dollars a month lifts the limit and adds CSV or JSON export, dead-link detection, an already-watched history, and stats.

Frequently asked questions

What is a private video library in simple terms?

It is a personal collection of saved videos that only you can see, where each video keeps its own details, such as title, preview, tags, and cast, and the whole thing is separated from your browser and your public accounts. PornLibrary is one example: you paste a link and it becomes an organized, private entry.

Is a private video library the same as a playlist?

No. A playlist usually lives on a single public platform and only holds videos from that platform, tied to your account there. A private video library holds links from many different sites in one place, adds its own searchable metadata, and is kept private per user rather than on a public profile.

Do I need a private video library?

If you save a handful of videos and rarely look back, browser bookmarks are fine. A private video library earns its place once the list grows, once you want to find things by performer or tag, and once you would rather it not sit inside the browser or an account you share with other parts of your life.
